Design…

… I dabble in it. I am by no means a Graphic Designer. That’s why I use the word “dabble” instead of “do”. When you use the word dabble… it somehow lowers your expectations. Anywho, last year I was so overwhelmed with taking care of a new baby, and catching up on all the work I missed during my maternity leave, that I decided not to offer Christmas Card design. It was a relief to be able to eliminate one deadline on my HUGE to do list, but it also kind of stunk. I really enjoy creating something from scratch… a blank canvas. Over the past few years I have designed birth announcements, graduation announcements, party invitations, wedding thank yous, and of course… Christmas cards. Moral of this story? I’m refreshed… rested… and for hire for all your custom design needs. Oh! I kind of lied… I did design one Christmas card last year. My cousin Heather’s family always keeps Louie-dog for me while we are in Vegas and Florida every December. In return? I give her a way fun family shoot and Christmas Cards. We always do a postcard type of card that doesn’t require an envelope. Both sides are high gloss.

What prompted this blog post? My friend, Erica. I have told you before about her salon in Marshall, Missouri. Well, I have spent the past week emailing back and forth with her designing a way fun new logo for her salon. For all you Marshall-ites out there, get ready for an all new High Maintenance!

And the VERY BEST thing about this photo shoot? The chaos. You know how I love me some chaos. FOUR older siblings running around laughing and playing. SO fun. And if you happen to have a newborn, 1yr old, 3yr old, 5yr old, and 9yr old… don’t think for one single second that I can get a shot of them all together looking semi pleasant. This shot was a freak accident.

Tomorrow… That GOSH DARN “bag tag” that’s going around. To those of you “tagging” me… boy are you going to be disappointed when you get a visual on how totally uncool I am.

This is the time of year for newborns. I guess, anytime of year is good for newborns, but because most people don’t schedule family sessions in the middle of winter, sweet little newborns are the only sessions that are on a can’t wait until spring schedule. And ohhh how I love it. Sniffing new babies?

The photo on yesterday’s post is from a newborn session last month with our newest nephew, Jasper. Sweet little Jasper… not so much into me. At a little more than a month old, he was just not going to have any part of the “newborn” thing.

Sidenote… if you want those sweet little curled up sleeping baby photos like this…

… you need to be sure and set up your session when the baby is less than two weeks old. After that point, it’s A LOT harder to keep them asleep and get them molded and posed just like you want them. Moral of this story? With a wild two year old brother and Jasper awake for 90% of his shoot, we had to get creative.

He FINALLY gave up and slept after about two hours of fighting it.

Oh sweet Jasper… I could eat you with a spoon.

Sorry I’m a little late, but…. My new blog is FINALLY alive and kicking! I am soooo excited to share it with you! I know, I know… change can be rough, but I promise that once you take a look around, you’ll be as excited about the change as I am! I’m still tweaking and adjusting and working on the nearly IMPOSSIBLE task of transferring everything over from Typepad. I have ran in to several bumps in the road with old links and photos.
