The morning after Kendra’s shoot on Facebook…

HER MOM: “I just want you to know that I have 27 chigger bites! Yes, I counted! Kendra has like 5 and a small patch of poison. I sure hope the pics in the weeds turn out! LOL”.

ME: “I came straight home, got naked in my garage and went straight to the shower to scrub my legs. I even had my Mom (who doesn’t get poison) wipe my shoes down with alcohol just in case there was oil on them! And you know what?!?!? I STILL have some poison bumps! Oh, and I watched them as they uploaded… they are totally going to be soooo worth it”.

I knew I could risk being cocky when my subject looks like Kendra! I would like to put this disclaimer out there… I did warn Kendra before I sat her down in the three foot weeds that chigger bites were a possibility. So glad she’s a girl who has her priorities straight.

Decided to share one of my very favorite sessions of 2010. Here are a few fun facts about this session…

1. The family in this shoot are friends of mine.

2. Erica (Mom) came straight from work… same clothes, same hair, same everything.

3. Only “planning” put in to their clothes was Averi’s purple shirt. She is a little girl you know. She brought three out for me to pick from.

4. Laughter. All the kids were running around like wild animals laughing and having a great time. No one was being scolded, no one was told to “look at the camera and smile”.

5. TRUST. Compete TOTAL trust in me to do the job I was hired for.

There is nothing I enjoy more than getting the opportunity to shoot a family multiple times. I love watching their children grow, and catching up like old friends. I also love clients that welcome me in to their REAL home. Moms who don’t care if I see their kids eating fruit snacks they spilled on the floor, and kids running around laughing and loving like I’m not even there. Bridgette and Andy’s home is just that. Filled with familiar photos on the walls (I’ve taken most of them) and tiny familiar faces (just a year older). Two and a half years ago when I first met their family they had just had their second baby. Since then, I’ve shot another family session, and both of Bridgette’s sisters weddings (Meredith & Richelle). This time around I made the trip to meet baby number three.

Bridgette and Andy… Thanks for allowing me the opportunity to share a few more hours with your family.

Caroline + Briley

Had a photo shoot yesterday with a couple of Tennessee super models. Caroline is a seasoned pro that I have shot several times, Briley on the other hand was new to my “no rules” photography style. The girls had no problem cutting loose….

The girls were sooooo good. We took off just the three of us on a little “adventure” and what do you know? Every time I told them to do something, THEY DID IT! Is that how it’s supposed to work? Apparently my kids never got that memo. If that’s the difference between girls and boys, I got hosed.

After our super model adventure, we decided to meet back up with their booking agents (aka MOMS) and force them into a little photo fun.

Great day. Great people. Great life. I LOVE IT.

BIG NEWS

Let me start this post off by saying I AM NOT PREGNANT. Don’t deny it… when you saw “BIG NEWS” as the title, it was your first thought. I kind of secretly just a little bit wish I was, but that’s an entirely different post. ANYWAY…

THE McCLOY FAMILY and KATHY McCLOY PHOTOGRAPHY ARE RELOCATING!!!!!!!!! After three years living in Iowa, we’re headed to another middle America “I” state with lots of corn fields… home to INDIANA! There are not words to really describe how excited I am. I am from Terre Haute, Indiana and my family (along with lots of wonderful friends) live there. I am so so SOOOOO happy to be moving back to be close to the people I love. We’ve already bought a house and hope to be moved by the first of the year. Gigantic life changes, and along with that… gigantic business changes. Don’t worry my loyal Missouri clients, nothing is going to change for you. I will still make several trips a year to shoot in Missouri with no travel charges. As for Indiana… I am super excited about starting fresh and growing my business in a new community. Once we get moved (yikes… the thought of packing up my house makes me shake in my boots) I’ll be running all sorts of fun specials for Terre Haute and the surrounding area!

On a personal note…

1. I’d like to go ahead and apologize to the teachers of Dixie Bee. Starting next fall you will be subjected to ten years straight of McCloy boys… for a few years, three at a time.

2. You will see me in Wal-Mart in sweatpants, no makeup, and bad hair. Keep walking please… don’t make eye contact.

2. If you have a preschool suggestion (starting in January) let me know.

3. If you know of a daycare that takes drop ins (no set schedule just here and there as needed) let me know.

4. If you know of a very good, very proven, very dependable interior painter, let me know.

5. If you know of a very good, very proven, very dependable cleaning lady, let me know.

6. If you enjoy moving heavy furniture (for free) while being tripped by naughty children, let me know… have I got a job for you!

Katie – Terre Haute South Senior

I’ve been making several trips home to “The Haute” to shoot this year. I blow in to town with my three little curtain climbers, invade my parents house, eat all of their food, scatter a bunch of toys and dirty diapers, shoot like crazy for three days , stay up all night editing, and then blow back out as quick as I came in. Kind of like a tornado… except my children leave a little bigger path of destruction behind them! A couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to shoot BEAUTIFUL Terre Haute South Senior, Katie. Katie & her friend Max met me down town and we wandered around aimlessly (that’s my normal routine) shooting for awhile and then headed to my secret location #1… followed up with shooting right at sunset at Katie’s high school and my alma mater… home of the braves… THS. I have such great memories from High School. Everyone talks about how hard those years were… not for me. Great friends, great experiences, and most of all great fun. It’s hard to believe it’s been almost FIFTEEN YEARS since I graduated from THS. Too bad I didn’t look like this back then…
